Diabetes affects more and more people each year, both nationally and right here in Western New York. Research has found that people with pre-diabetes – a condition in which blood sugar levels are high, but not yet high enough to meet the criteria for diabetes – can make lifestyle changes to reduce their odds of diabetes.

Our 12-month prevention program is designed for those diagnosed with pre-diabetes or who are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The program includes 16 weekly, one-hour sessions covering nutrition, exercise, and behavior modification. We then meet monthly for continued support and maintenance. You do not need to be a YMCA member to participate.
