Y on the Fly Delivers During Holiday Season

(Buffalo, NY)  YMCA Buffalo Niagara’s “Y on the Fly” program is hosting two upcoming food giveaways at the Resource Council of WNY, 347 East Ferry Street in Buffalo.

This Saturday, November 13, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., members of Buffalo State College Women’s Hockey team will be on hand to help YMCA staff distribute fresh produce to families. On Saturday, November 20, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. students from the University at Buffalo will lead participants through several STEM activities and assist with a Thanksgiving meal box and turkey give-away. Food supplies are limited.

Y on the Fly is a mobile YMCA that visits communities and offers free programs aimed to help youth of all ages stay physically active and build healthy relationships with their peers. The goal of Y on the Fly is to deliver important programs to areas of Western New York that may be unable to access full YMCA services.

“The Y believes that every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential and thrive,” said John Ehrbar, President & CEO of YMCA Buffalo Niagara. “We are excited for this opportunity to provide children and families in this neighborhood with fresh fruits and vegetables to enjoy and a healthy meal to share on Thanksgiving.”

Y on the Fly makes bi-weekly Saturday stops at The Resource Council of WNY in Buffalo, the Willie Cotton Center in Lackawanna, and the Niagara Falls Public Library. For more information about this free program and to view the full schedule, please visit YMCABN.org.

This program is made possible thanks to the generous support of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of WNY.
