A Message From President & CEO John Ehrbar

If the Y seems more busy recently, that’s because it is! On an average day last month, more than 4,000 people walked through our doors and were impacted by our programs and services. As our membership continues to grow, we have the incredible responsibility to transform lives by…

  • Creating an inclusive environment to give people a sense of connectedness and belonging, which leads to higher self-esteem
  • Being present to help people accomplish their goals, which leads to higher self-confidence
  • Helping people improve their physical and mental health, which leads to reduced stress and higher levels of motivation

As we work to transform lives, we also need to make sure we meet day-to-day member expectations. This happens when we all take ownership to keep our facilities clean, respond with urgency to member needs, and make the Y the most welcoming place on earth by being friendly and inclusive. I look forward to seeing our work in action this spring and can’t wait to see the “you wouldn’t believe…” moments that you create!

Employee Spotlight
David Stacey - Ken-Ton Family YMCA

David Stacey is an incredible asset to the Ken-Ton Family YMCA's wellness team. He is a go-to employee who you can always count on to help whenever needed, be it subbing in for a fellow instructor or helping at another branch. His intentional efforts to connect with his class participants and in one-on-one sessions makes a noticeable impact on members, while inspiring life-long habit changes. Our members have made it clear that the morning group fitness schedule would not be the same without him!

Champion the Y's Cause

As a Y employee, you are not only a witness to the Y’s vital impact, you are a driving force behind it. Today, we invite you to make an even greater difference in others’ lives and earn a chance to win some fun prizes by becoming an Annual Campaign fundraiser. To get started, make a personal gift to your branch campaign if you haven’t already. Next, join your branch’s online fundraising team here and set up your personal fundraising page with your photo, fundraising goal, and personal Y story. And lastly, share your page with friends and family via social media, email, or text. Prizes will be awarded to the overall and top fundraiser per branch at the campaign’s end (April 20, 2023).

With your help, we can raise the money necessary to support the most pressing needs of our community and ensure health equity for all.
