(Niagara Falls, NY) – YMCA Buffalo Niagara is excited to expand its reach and impact in Western New York with the launch of its Safety Around Water program in the City of Niagara Falls beginning July 8.

This free four-week course teaches children critical skills that gives them confidence in and around water, to help reduce the risk of drowning. This program is designed for kids to learn exercises which help them adjust to being in water, and learn key swim techniques, pool rules and boating safety, plus age-appropriate games to encourage comfort and activity around water.

Thanks to the partnership with Niagara Falls City Schools, the Y will host Safety Around Water at Abate Elementary and Cataract Elementary. Abate Elementary starts its first session on July 8 and the second session on August 1. Cataract Elementary will host its first session on July 12 and its second session on August 2. Each session includes multiple classes which run at least twice per week.
